Dust Generation from Powders - Dust Disperser

Dust Generator SAG 410Prospect

New: dust disperser for very low mass flows expands the series SAG 410!

Dust is defined as a dispersion of fine solid particles in gas. It is often needed for tests, research and quality assurance tasks. For that the particle concentration and the particle size should be known and adjusted.

A proven method for metering powder to the disperser is to use a moving toothed belt. The well defined spaces between the teeth ensure a constant and reproducible supply of powder, even at low feed rates. The particle concentration of the output aerosol can easily be adjusted over a wide range by changing the speed of the feed belt.
The powder is removed from the belt by an ejector nozzle (similar to DIN ISO 5011).
The new designed dust feeder SAG 410/U applies an innovative concept of a rotating stainless steel ring for dosing. By means of the ring very small amounts of powder can be fed, also for poor-flow, cohesive materials.

Advantages:
  • Constant and reproducible feed rate over a wide range – suitable for many applications
  • Highly accurate, user-independent metering of the powder
  • Refillable during operation without any effect on the aerosol concentration – ideal for long term studies
  • High concentration even at small flow rates – speeds up testing in low flow applications
  • Easy to clean and change material
  • Simple interchangeable dispersing units allow a single instrument to have an enormous mass output range from 0.05…6000g/hour*
  • Remote control units for both manual or computer control are available
Applications:
  • Filter efficiency measurement
  • Aerosol research
  • Inhalation and toxicology studies
  • Optimization of combustion processes
  • Flow visualisation, LDV and PIV applications
  • Mixing and coating processes
  • Performance, evaluation and calibration of dust samplers and monitors

Principle:

Feeding the powder is done by a special feeding belt. The defined segments warrant a constant and reproducible supply of the powder even in small quantities. The resulting particle number concentration of the output aerosol can be easily adjusted by setting the feeding belt speed over a wide range.

Filling the small segments is realized by the scraper. Its design enables a constant dosing of the powder that is nearly independent of the powder reservoir filling level. The reservoir can be refilled during operation without any effects on the aerosol concentration.

The dispersing unit consist of a dual-stream ejector nozzle (similar to DIN ISO 50111) and a tube connection to the housing for compressed air supply. Shear forces created in this ejector disperse and deagglomerate the powder to form an aerosol.
