ISO 29461-4 debut at FILTECH: Filter testing amid desert dust and sea spray
The countdown is on at the @FILTECH Exhibition: Our booth is nearly complete, and the entire team is ready – especially Topas project engineer @Markus Neukirch. Tomorrow, in his presentation, he will highlight the process engineering challenges involved in validating gas turbine air intake filters under aggressive environmental conditions such as desert dust or sea spray. Using the GTS 114 test system as an example, he will demonstrate how these extreme climate scenarios can be simulated in a reproducible manner.
Key technical aspects of the presentation:
- Test bench setup for fully automated testing of Parts 1, 2, and Part 4 of ISO 29461.
- Real-world simulation: Conditioning of salt aerosols, water droplets, and dust at flow rates of up to 11,000 m³/h and humidity control (>95% rH and 30–40% rH).
- Long-term stability: User-independent, reproducible test sequences lasting up to 120 hours.
- Data acquisition: Determination of differential pressure, separation efficiency, and behavior under water/salt loading.
