Position paper out now: Aerosol experts explain transmission pathways of SARS-CoV-2 in a comprehensible way

In addition to smear and droplet infection, aerosol transmission is also a key contributor to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Topas supported the Gesellschaft für Aerosolforschung GAeF in their preparation of a position paper that emphatically shows possible transmission paths from the perspective of aerosol research. Here, experts explain in a comprehensible way how, for example, viruses escape or comment on the effectiveness of masks. In the official media, both terms and aerosol-physical phenomena are mixed and thus partly incorrectly communicated. The position paper aims to counteract this and is a research-based contribution to the management of the current pandemic. Its authors, including Christof Asbach, Andreas Held, Birgit Wehner and Sebastian Schmitt, call for greater cooperation between all scientific disciplines to explain different transmission pathways and to draft appropriate measures to stop them.
